President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have responded to this morning's terrorist attack in the southern West Bank, which left several people wounded, some seriously. Herzog said he contacted Har Hebron Regional Council head Eliram Azulay to express solidarity with local residents and the families of the injured. Praising the soldiers who killed the attackers, Herzog said their actions prevented a potentially much larger attack.
Following a security assessment with senior military and intelligence officials, Netanyahu ordered an immediate security cordon around Hebron, alongside additional measures across the West Bank. According to the prime minister, the substantial quantities of weapons and ammunition recovered suggest that Hamas operatives had been preparing a major attack against Israeli civilians. Security forces have since been reinforced, with expanded arrest operations underway.
Both leaders commended the security forces and expressed hopes for the wounded to recover. Herzog stated, "Israel faces an ongoing threat of terror that demands resolute action at all times." Netanyahu vowed to continue pursuing those responsible for planning and directing attacks, warning, "You have nowhere to hi
de."
