Military aircraft are being repositioned in the Gulf
By Bernard Moerdler,
Military aircraft are being repositioned in the Gulf, while Royal Air Force personnel have been instructed to resume carrying protective equipment, a source familiar with regional military activity told BNN, amid heightened tensions with Iran.
According to the source, the movements involve both fighter jets and military transport aircraft.
BNN contacted U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) for comment on the movements and whether they were connected to preparations for renewed military operations against Iran.
In a response to BNN, a U.S. official speaking on background through CENTCOM Public Affairs said, "We regularly move U.S. service members and assets to optimize mission readiness. We do not discuss related movements for operational security reasons."
"U.S. forces remain vigilant and ready to protect American personnel and interests across the region," the official added.
Asked specifically about potential future military operations, the official said, "We will not speculate on potential future operations for operational security reasons."
CENTCOM did not confirm or deny the specific movements described by BNN's source.
