The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia has ordered all American staff and their families to leave the country, AFP reported, citing a diplomatic source.
The order follows an earlier Reuters report, citing U.S. officials, that the State Department was preparing to issue mandatory departure orders for some embassy personnel and their family members across the Gulf.
It remains unclear which other U.S. embassies will be affected or when additional departure orders could take effect.
