UPDATE: 15-Year-Old Boy Killed in Northern Israel Explosion; 19 Others Injured
Magen David Adom (MDA) has confirmed that one person was killed in the explosion on Ramim Ridge in northern Israel. Police identified the victim as a 15-year-old boy.
Another 19 people were injured, including two in serious condition and three in moderate condition.
The explosion occurred near the Pe'er observation point, where students and teachers were hiking along the Israel National Trail.
Police say the blast appears to have been caused by unexploded ordnance, although its origin remains under investigation.
The IDF has deployed specialists from its elite Yahalom Combat Engineering unit to search the area for additional unexploded ordnance. Three Israeli Air Force helicopters were dispatched to assist in evacuating the wounded.
