Northern Command has launched a broad search operation in communities near Israel's northern frontier after an unidentified object crossed from the direction of Lebanon, prompting a hostile-aircraft warning in Al-Aramsheh this evening.
The object's nature remains unclear. Military officials have not determined whether it was a balloon, a bag, a paraglider or something else. Air Force aircraft were sent to assist, and aircraft were reportedly heard over northern Israel and Jerusalem.
Search teams are operating in Admit, Al-Aramsheh, Ya'ara, Goren, Hanita, Shlomi, Gesher HaZiv, Saar, Kabri, Abdon, Batzat, Liman, Nahariya, Avron, Ben Ami, Matzuva and Rosh HaNikra.
"We are doing everything necessary to rule out any hostile terrorist activity in our territory," Northern Command said. "We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available."
