UPDATE: Israel Police now says the two women detained in Namibia are not Israeli mother and daughter Mali and Liel Yahalomi, reversing earlier reports that the pair had been arrested there.
According to police, the detainees are Iranian nationals who allegedly presented forged passports and falsely claimed to be Israelis. A Chabad rabbi active in Africa who went to identify the women also said they were an Iranian mother and daughter and were not Mali and Liel.
Mali and Liel Yahalomi remain elsewhere after previously being located in Argentina following their disappearance from Europe in August.
