The IDF confirms that overnight Saturday, it and the Shin Bet carried out an airstrike in Gaza targeting senior Hamas official Ali Ahmed Al-Amoudi. The military says Al-Amoudi, currently Hamas's most senior figure in the Gaza Strip, was inside an apartment being used by the organization for terrorist activity. The outcome of the strike is still being assessed.

According to the IDF, Al-Amoudi served as Yahya Sinwar's close aide and right-hand man and was involved in decisions surrounding the October 7 massacre. He is also accused of involvement in a 1993 West Bank attack that killed four Israelis and the 1994 killing of Shin Bet officer Noam-Menahem Cohen in Ramallah.

The IDF says Al-Amoudi has remained directly involved in Hamas operations and efforts to rebuild the group's military capabilities. It added that precautions, including the use of precise munitions, were taken before the strike to reduce the risk to civilians.
