The flydubai aircraft landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, with damage to its vertical tail visible in the accompanying photo. BNN's assessment is that portions of the tail most likely sheared off under aerodynamic stress during the aircraft's steep descent and roll.
Flight-tracking data indicates the aircraft lost roughly 18,000 feet over about two minutes, with its descent rate exceeding 15,000 feet per minute at one point.
