Opposition leader Yair Lapid said after his security briefing with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the IDF, Shin Bet and police are prepared for the elections and there is no reason to cause public panic. "Israel's security and IDF bases are not a backdrop for election videos," he said.
Responding to Netanyahu's warning Tuesday about possible attacks ahead of the elections, Lapid said updates about threats should come from security professionals, rather than a politician's social media account. He called on Netanyahu to draft 15,000 Haredi men to address the IDF's personnel shortage, citing the chief of staff's warnings about insufficient combat troops and exhaustion in the military. "The elections will be held on schedule, and no one has an excuse to disrupt them," Lapid said.
The Prime Minister's Office said the briefing presented detailed warnings of possible attacks on multiple fronts ahead of the elections.
