Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today that Israel has indications its enemies will attempt to attack ahead of the elections. Speaking at Tel Nof air base, he warned: "Do not mess with us. Our long arm will reach you anywhere and at any time."
Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party called for Netanyahu to brief opposition leader Yair Lapid immediately, saying this was necessary to establish whether the warning reflected a genuine threat or a political move intended to disrupt the election. The party said Israel's security and the election campaign must not be mixed, even in appearance.
Lapid subsequently requested an urgent security briefing, saying he wanted to understand whether the threats were real and what preparations were being made to ensure voting proceeds without disruption, according to N12. Netanyahu and Lapid are scheduled to meet at 11:30 p.m. tonight, with Netanyahu convening a security discussion beforehand, the outlet said.
