A senior Hamas operative has been captured amid ongoing activity in Gaza City

A senior Hamas operative has been captured amid ongoing activity in Gaza City, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced, following reports of a raid involving an Israeli-backed Palestinian militia.
"This is our policy: We do not wait for threats, we pursue Hamas terrorists, thwart them, and destroy their terror infrastructure," Katz said during a visit to Netiv HaAsara. He added that "a short while ago, a senior Hamas terrorist was arrested," without identifying the individual or revealing which force captured him.
Accounts from Hamas-affiliated media described a confrontation during an attempted operation against a figure from the "resistance." One outlet claimed Hamas forces tried to capture members of the group carrying out the raid, but were prevented from doing so following Israeli air intervention.
Despite Hamas-linked reports referring to an Israeli "special force," other reports said Israeli troops were not the force operating on the ground, and that the raid was instead carried out by an Israeli-backed Palestinian militia with Israeli air support.
