Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Hamas on Sunday that the IDF would expand its strikes across the Gaza Strip if the launching of kites, balloons and drones toward Israel does not stop immediately.
In a joint statement issued after a security assessment, Netanyahu and Katz said Israel would target those responsible for the launches. They said civilians may be evacuated from areas used for launches before the IDF strikes infrastructure there.
The IDF has identified at least six kites that crossed from Gaza over the past week, according to Israeli military sources cited by The Jerusalem Post. The IDF said no suspicious material was found on the kites recovered over the weekend and that they posed no danger to the public.
