Turkey has moved to seek an Interpol Red Notice for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over Israel's interception of an activist flotilla attempting to reach Gaza earlier this year. Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced the move Friday as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Ankara has previously issued warrants targeting Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials over allegations connected to the Gaza war, including "genocide," accusations Israel rejects.

Netanyahu's office responded Friday, rejecting Turkey's latest move and accusing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of attempting to intimidate Israel's leadership. The development comes amid sharply rising tensions between Israel and Turkey, including their growing dispute over Turkish involvement in Syria.
