All incoming flights to Ben Gurion Airport have been suspended as major operational problems continue
By Sammy Tisser,
All incoming flights to Ben Gurion Airport have been suspended as major operational problems continue to cause widespread delays. Departures are also being affected, with some aircraft unable to receive takeoff clearance and at least 10 Arkia flights reportedly being held. Several international flights bound for Tel Aviv, including Air France and Air Europa services, have turned back or diverted, while a London flight reportedly rerouted toward Cyprus.
Baggage operations are also severely backed up, with reports that 10 conveyor belts went more than 90 minutes without moving luggage. The airport workers' committee says staffing shortages are responsible and denies ordering a strike or slowdown, while Transportation Minister Miri Regev has instructed officials to pursue legal action. Authorities say they are investigating whether workers are deliberately slowing operations, as tens of thousands of passengers face cancellations, diversions and lengthy delays.
