More than four decades after disappearing during the First Lebanon War
By Sammy Tisser,
More than four decades after disappearing during the First Lebanon War, the IDF has reportedly located the remains of Yehuda Katz, one of three Israeli soldiers who went missing in the 1982 Battle of Sultan Yacoub. Katz's family has been informed of the development, according to Army Radio.
Katz disappeared on June 11, 1982, alongside fellow soldiers Zachary Baumel and Zvi Feldman. Baumel's remains were brought back to Israel in 2019 with Russian assistance, while Feldman's remains were recovered in 2025 during a covert Mossad operation.
Some Israeli reports have been more cautious, saying that findings connected to Katz's disappearance were located without specifying whether they were his remains. The IDF has yet to publicly clarify the details surrounding the discovery.
