Senior Palestinian figure Mohammad Dahlan says Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to US President Donald Trump
By Sammy Tisser,
Senior Palestinian figure Mohammad Dahlan says Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, told him that Israel had agreed to halt strikes in Gaza beginning Sunday morning.
"After Hamas and the Palestinian factions agreed on the 15-point document, Mr. Jared Kushner confirmed to us that he agreed with the Israeli side that it will stop the attacks on Gaza starting tomorrow morning," Dahlan wrote in a Facebook post.
Dahlan, a former Palestinian Authority security chief in Gaza who now advises UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, has reportedly been involved in the Hamas disarmament talks. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not publicly endorsed the proposal, while statements attributed to a senior Israeli official have indicated Israel considers the plan insufficient and does not intend to carry out the withdrawals it requires. Israeli strikes across Gaza also continued on Saturday.
