Overnight, Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles at US forces in the Middle East in what CENTCOM described as an "attempted surprise attack." The US military says all of the missiles were successfully intercepted, and the attack was unsuccessful. Overnight also marked the first reported direct Iranian attack on an American target since President Donald Trump announced he would halt US strikes.
Also overnight, US and Saudi Arabian armed forces carried out joint precision strikes in Iraq against Iran-aligned militants that CENTCOM says were directed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to target American troops and Saudi energy infrastructure. CENTCOM warned that "the IRGC and its terrorist proxies must cease these attacks to avoid further US military response."
