An Israeli man was wounded after a Palestinian allegedly seized the weapon of a local security coordinator

By Sammy Tisser,

An Israeli man was wounded after a Palestinian allegedly seized the weapon of a local security coordinator and opened fire during clashes near the West Bank settlement of Havat Gilad, according to the IDF's initial investigation.

The military says the confrontation began when a group of Israelis hiking near the Palestinian village of Tell, close to Havat Gilad, arrived at a mosque on the edge of the village and reported being attacked by Palestinians. A security coordinator who responded to the scene allegedly had his firearm taken by a Palestinian, who then used it to shoot one of the Israelis. The wounded man was evacuated to a hospital, and IDF troops were sent to the area.

Magen David Adom says it treated four people during the incident, including one who was unconscious. The Palestinian Red Crescent says three Palestinians, ages 19, 34, and 41, were seriously wounded by gunfire. The IDF says it is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
