An Israir aircraft was damaged by an airport tug while being towed before takeoff at London Luton Airport last week, marking the third such incident involving one of the airline's planes at the airport in less than a year.
According to Channel 12, Israeli aviation officials now suspect the latest damage may have been deliberate and motivated by nationalistic reasons rather than being an accident. Israel is reportedly working with British authorities to determine whether foul play was involved.
The Thursday evening incident left around 300 passengers stranded onboard the aircraft for several hours. Air conditioning was unavailable for part of the delay, and several passengers reportedly suffered medical issues. Israir has also criticized Luton Airport, saying that, to the airline's knowledge, airport management has not conducted a proper investigation into the repeated damage involving its aircraft.
