Israel took part in defending against an Iranian missile barrage aimed at the southern Jordanian city of Aqaba this afternoon, an IDF source confirmed to BNN, the first known instance of Israel helping defend Jordanian territory during the war. Israeli interceptors engaged the Iranian missiles alongside U.S. air defenses, the source said, contributing to the defense of Aqaba. No sirens were sounded in southern Israel, in keeping with Home Front Command protocol, and the source said the interceptions posed no risk to Israeli communities. Aqaba sits on the Red Sea directly across from the Israeli city of Eilat, which lay within range of the spillover. The barrage came hours after the U.S. Embassy in Jordan said authorities were evacuating King Hussein International Airport and the Aqaba seaport over a specific and credible threat.
