The US military has officially reinstated its naval blockade of Iranian ports
By Sammy Tisser,
The US military has officially reinstated its naval blockade of Iranian ports, with CENTCOM saying it is once again enforcing restrictions on vessels traveling to and from Iran's ports and coastal areas while allowing other maritime traffic to continue moving through the region.
The blockade, first introduced in mid-April before being lifted in June following an interim ceasefire agreement, has now returned as the truce continues to unravel amid escalating fighting in the Strait of Hormuz. The renewed measures follow Iranian attacks on commercial shipping, including strikes on two vessels in Omani waters that killed one crew member. Iran also reported fresh US strikes on Qeshm Island in the strategic waterway overnight.
