Israel will not be spared from the response of Iranian forces, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr

Israel will not be spared from the response of Iranian forces, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said in a written statement. "As we announced previously, an attack on infrastructure will be met in kind, and the criminal Zionist regime, which is behind this wickedness, will not be safe from the response of the fighters," Zolghadr said.
Zolghadr said Iranians and Iraqis had turned out for the funeral processions of the assassinated supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, in what he called a historic showing, and that the United States was, in his words, "angry" at the turnout. "The most hated face in the world once again said what he deserved to say, addressing the great, risen and aggrieved people of Iran," he said, in an apparent reference to President Trump's remarks in Ankara on Wednesday calling the Iranians "scum" and "liars."
Zolghadr is the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, the body that sets Iran's national security and foreign policy under the authority of the supreme leader, and a former Revolutionary Guards deputy commander. Threats of this kind carry weight when they issue from that office rather than from military commanders or state media. Israel has not taken part in the fighting between the United States and Iran, and Israeli sources told i24NEWS this week that Iran appeared to have no interest in drawing Israel into it. Zolghadr's statement places Israel explicitly in the line of retaliation, a day after Defense Minister Israel Katz said the IDF was ready to strike Iran again with even greater force.
