Overnight, air raid sirens sounded across Bahrain as authorities urged residents to seek shelter, while Kuwait's military said its air defense systems were intercepting incoming missiles and drones after Iran launched attacks targeting U.S. military bases in both countries.
The developments came after the U.S. said its overnight operation struck more than 90 Iranian military targets, with U.S. Central Command stating the attacks were intended to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz by targeting air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps later claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying it targeted key U.S. military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait and warning that any further American strikes would be met with an expanded response across the region.
