The U.S. military is carrying out a new and larger round of airstrikes against Iran in response to the Revolutionary Guard striking a ship in the Strait of Hormuz earlier today, a U.S. official told Fox News. The strikes are hitting Iranian air defenses, drone storage, cruise missiles, radar installations, minelaying capabilities, and surface-to-air missiles. "It's a larger strike than last night," the official said.
The official said Iran had been given an opening to halt its fire and did not take it. "Iran had a chance to stop shooting... and they didn't take it... instead, they attacked another ship in Hormuz this morning, the MT Kiku," the official said.
Iran responded to the earlier U.S. strikes overnight with attacks on U.S. forces in Bahrain, the official said, and U.S. and Bahraini forces together shot down nine Iranian one-way attack drones, with no damage or injuries reported.
