The IDF announced a military exercise in the Gulf of Eilat and the Golan Heights

The IDF announced a military exercise in the Gulf of Eilat and the Golan Heights, involving increased movement of naval vessels, security forces, and military vehicles. The army stressed that the drill is routine and that there is no security incident, adding that residents would be notified if a real threat emerged.
The exercise comes amid heightened security readiness in the Eilat area following a recently thwarted infiltration attempt from Jordan. According to reports, a jet ski approaching Israeli waters was identified by naval forces, engaged, and forced back toward the Jordanian coast. Israeli assessments suggest the vessel may have been used to test defense responses, prompting the Navy to raise alert levels in the region during the busy holiday period.
The drill also follows reports that Shin Bet chief David Zini warned senior officials about the possibility of a large-scale attack targeting Eilat, potentially originating from Jordanian territory or from the sea. While some security officials reportedly questioned the intelligence behind the assessment, local authorities have said there is currently no concrete information indicating an immediate threat to the city.
