On Friday, Israir's first Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft arrived at Ben Gurion Airport in a ceremonial water-cannon welcome, marking a major step ahead of the airline's planned launch of direct flights to New York in early August. The jet is the first of two A330s acquired by the carrier as part of an approximately $85 million fleet expansion.
The aircraft will initially be deployed on European routes throughout July while flight crews, maintenance personnel, and ground teams complete training and final preparations for long-haul operations. A second A330 is expected to join the fleet in the coming days.
Israir CEO Uri Sirkis called the arrival of the aircraft a significant milestone for both the airline and Israel's aviation industry, saying the addition of a wide-body fleet positions the company for expanded long-haul service, with future destinations expected to include New York, Asia, and other international markets.
