A senior U.S. official said Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a ceasefire to take effect at 4 p.m. local time on Friday, according to Reuters. The report rested on a single source and gave little further detail.

An Israeli official said Israel considered itself to be in a ceasefire, and that as far as Israel was concerned it would not be a time of war as long as Hezbollah did not attack. The official said IDF forces would remain in southern Lebanon and that Israel retained its freedom to act there. Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon were continuing with strikes reported in Nabatieh.
