Iran's delegation has suspended its trip to Switzerland for the first round of talks with the United States

By Bernard Moerdler,

Iran's delegation has suspended its trip to Switzerland for the first round of talks with the United States over continued Israeli operations in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese broadcaster Al-Mayadeen, which is aligned with Hezbollah and Iran. BNN was not able to independently confirm the report. A diplomatic source familiar with the planning told The Times of Israel earlier that the talks, set for Friday at the Burgenstock resort, were still expected to take place but that the situation was "very unclear" and could fall apart.

The memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Iran on Thursday has come under strain, with Iran warning that a continued Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon would mean the annulment of the deal, and Israel vowing to keep its forces in the south.
