President Donald Trump indicated that Iran would be allowed to keep enriching uranium at low levels under the emerging agreement, a shift from his earlier insistence that Iran's nuclear program be fully dismantled and that it not enrich on its own soil. In an interview with The New York Times, Trump said Iran would be "limited forever" to low-level enrichment that could never serve military purposes and could enrich only for non-military uses. Trump said the United States would eventually work with Iran to dilute and remove the roughly 12 tons of enriched material it holds and that the deal would give near-immediate access to Iranian sites, though Iran has not publicly confirmed any such terms. The full text has not been published, and an Iranian deputy foreign minister said it would be released only after the signing.
