After months of uncertainty surrounding a potential vote
By Sammy Tisser,
After months of uncertainty surrounding a potential vote, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has signed a decree setting presidential elections for 2027, according to WAFA.
No specific date was announced. The decision marks a shift from earlier statements by Abbas suggesting elections would take place much sooner, following the war in Gaza.
The announcement comes amid ongoing calls for reform within the Palestinian Authority. Abbas, who has led the PA for two decades, has previously announced elections that were later postponed or canceled.
