Israeli officials pushed back sharply against U.S. pressure not to respond if Iran fires missiles at Israel, with one official saying President Donald Trump was "normalizing fire at Israel," according to Ynet. Israeli intelligence assessments presented to the political leadership found a significant possibility that Iran would launch missiles at Israel, the report said, and the United States was trying to persuade Tehran to avoid or limit an attack while pressing Israel not to retaliate if one occurs. Israeli officials called the U.S. position unfair, and one asked why striking back was permitted to the United States, which hit Iran after an American helicopter was downed without casualties, but "forbidden to Israel."
