Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, a senior figure in the country's negotiating team

By Bernard Moerdler,

Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, a senior figure in the country's negotiating team, signaled that the Israeli strike on Beirut could undermine the emerging U.S.-Iran agreement, saying it showed the United States "either does not have the will or the ability to fulfill its obligations." Ghalibaf said Washington could not "score points by giving the regime a green light" and dismissed what he called the old "game of bad cop and good cop." He said that if the United States lacked the will and ability to fulfill its obligations, "it is not possible to talk about continuing on the path."
