President Donald Trump described the understanding with Iran as "a very strong memorandum of understanding" that was "a little conceptual," when pressed at the White House on whether it amounted only to a framework for deeper negotiations on Iran's nuclear program. Trump said a U.S. plan to seize Iran's Kharg Island oil terminal was now off the table if the agreement is signed. He also said the Strait of Hormuz was already open and had been open for months, a claim that contradicts Iran's statement earlier today that it was keeping the strait closed.
