President Donald Trump said the United States and Iran had reached a deal that would be signed soon, possibly over the weekend in Europe, in remarks at the White House. Trump said he would not attend the signing but that Vice President JD Vance and envoy Steve Witkoff would, and that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen once the agreement is signed. He said the deal would ensure Iran "will never have a nuclear weapon" and that it would be concluded quickly, with the details finalized in the coming days. Trump said he had spoken with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and with the leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. The agreement has not yet been signed, and Iran has not publicly confirmed it.
