Israel was not aware of any impending agreement with Iran or any approval of an agreement, an Israeli source told CNN, appearing to contradict President Donald Trump's announcement of a deal. Trump's post suggesting an imminent agreement surprised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was holding a limited security discussion on Iran at the time, CNN reported.
Trump's claim appears to rest on Pakistani mediators. Shortly before calling off the strikes, Trump spoke with the Pakistanis, who have been mediating with Iran and who told him "we have a deal," according to a senior administration official reported by White House correspondent Jonathan Swan. The official said the United States had yet to confirm this with the Iranians and that it was unclear what, if anything, had been agreed.
