President Donald Trump said the United States, not Iran, controls the Strait of Hormuz and declared "it's over for Iran," in a post on Truth Social. Trump said he had directed the U.S. military last month to carry out what he called a secret mission to escort oil tankers and commercial ships through the strait, and that more than 100 million barrels of oil and over 200 commercial ships had since passed through safely. "This wildly successful effort is because the UNITED STATES of AMERICA CONTROLS the Strait of Hormuz, NOT Iran. Their military is defeated, and their economy is lost," he said.
