Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran still prefers diplomacy following US President Donald Trump's threat of retaliation over the downing of an American military helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz, but warned that Iran can "speak other languages too" if necessary.

In a post on X, Araghchi suggested the incident may have been accidental, stating that foreign forces operating near Iran are exposed to risks from "human errors, plain accidents, or potentially being caught in crossfire." He also argued that the Strait of Hormuz is "NOT international waters but shared between Iran and Oman," and said "the best solution is for foreign forces to exit," while talks between Washington and Tehran on a potential end to the war continue.
