Iranian state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out strikes in the Sulaymaniyah area of Iraq's Kurdistan region, targeting what Tehran described as terrorist group headquarters.
Iran has repeatedly targeted armed Kurdish factions based in neighboring Iraqi Kurdistan, accusing them of acting on behalf of Israeli and Western interests. According to Iranian officials, the groups are classified as terrorist organizations, although many of their camps and positions have reportedly been largely evacuated in recent months.
