Greek authorities have arrested a 37-year-old Palestinian man in Agios Nikolaos, Crete

Greek authorities have arrested a 37-year-old Palestinian man in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, on terrorism-related charges, including alleged membership in Hamas, receipt of terrorist training, travel for terrorist purposes, and planning terrorist acts, according to the Hellenic Police. The arrest was carried out in a joint operation by Greece's National Intelligence Service (EYP) and the counter-terrorism unit DAEEB, with a parallel search conducted in Athens.

Authorities said the investigation developed after a mobile phone linked to the suspect connected him to individuals previously arrested in Cyprus on terrorism-related cases. Searches reportedly uncovered electronic devices, financial items, and laboratory equipment, though police said the chemicals found were not sufficient to produce explosives. Greek media reports also suggest investigators are examining whether a cruise ship carrying Israeli tourists may have been a potential target, a claim not confirmed by officials. Investigations are ongoing.
