The IDF announced that IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir conducted a situational assessment following the attack alongside Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth. Zamir, who was touring the Gaza Strip with Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor and Gaza Division commander Brig. Gen. Liron Batito, at the time, received an initial briefing on the incident and instructed forces to continue operational activity.
In a later update, Israel Police said officers from the Central District's Tayibe station located and shot dead the suspected attacker following a brief manhunt, recovering the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
Police, Border Police, and special units continue searching the area for any additional suspects.
Medical officials said one person was killed and five others were wounded in the attack, with injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, follow the instructions of security forces, and report any suspicious activity to police.
