IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin says Hezbollah is "battered and wounded" and now fighting for its own survival, as the IDF continues expanding strikes and ground activity across Lebanon.
Speaking from northern Israel, Defrin said the military has eliminated more than 800 Hezbollah terrorists since the ceasefire began, in addition to over 2,500 killed since the start of Operation Roaring Lion. According to him, Hezbollah's force is estimated at roughly 30,000 terrorists, meaning nearly a third of its members have already been eliminated.
Defrin said the IDF recently targeted sector commanders and operational officials, causing major damage to Hezbollah's command-and-control systems, while troops on the ground continue dismantling terror infrastructure in what he described as a "systematic and consistent" campaign.
He added that the IAF has been operating nonstop, carrying out strikes in Beirut, Tyre, and southern Lebanon over the past day in support of ground forces. "We are not stopping for a moment," Defrin said, adding that Israeli troops continue carrying out "surprising and bold operations" against Hezbollah.
Addressing the growing drone threat, Defrin said the IDF is investing major efforts into improving detection systems, interception capabilities, and protection for soldiers, noting that "the best minds in the IDF and outside the IDF" are working continuously on the issue.
He also addressed residents of northern Israel directly, saying the IDF is operating "for you, at all times, on the front lines and on the home front," praising their "resilience, responsibility, and strength."
