A strike Tuesday evening in Gaza City's Rimal neighborhood targeted Mohammed Odeh
By Sammy Tisser,
A strike Tuesday evening in Gaza City's Rimal neighborhood targeted Mohammed Odeh, Hamas's newly appointed military chief, the second time in eleven days Israel has killed the head of the group's military wing.
Odeh had taken the role only days earlier, succeeding Izz al-Din al-Haddad, who was killed in an IDF strike on May 15. Before his elevation he served as Hamas's intelligence chief during the October 7 attacks. A residential building was hit in the strike; early reports indicated one woman killed and several wounded.
Netanyahu and Katz confirmed the operation in a joint statement, holding Odeh responsible for Israeli casualties on October 7 and vowing Israel would reach everyone involved, "sooner or later."
