The IDF Home Front Command will begin providing pre-alerts on rocket and missile fire from Lebanon from today, Tuesday, when operational conditions allow. Home Front Command chief Maj. Gen. Shai Klapper stated, "Out of deep commitment to civilian security and to improving defensive capability, we have completed a professional process designed to provide a pre-alert on fire from Lebanese territory as well. The aim is to give the public additional preparation time before a warning is issued."
The pre-alerts will be distributed through the Home Front Command app, its Cell Broadcast personal messaging platform, the National Emergency Portal, and the Home Front Command Telegram channels. The window the pre-alert will provide is relatively short and will vary according to distance from the launch source: a few seconds before a warning is activated along the Confrontation Line, up to about one minute in the northern region, and up to about two minutes in the rest of the country.
When a pre-alert is received, the public should move closer to a protected space so that, when the warning itself is activated, it is possible to enter the space within the standard protection time for the area. The Home Front Command stated there will be cases in which an alert is activated without a pre-alert, and cases in which a pre-alert is issued but no siren follows. The Home Front Command stated it will continue to refine its civilian warning capabilities.
