US President Donald Trump posted a sweeping attack on Iran on Truth Social moments ago, declaring that "Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years." The post arrived hours after Iran's official news agency announced that Tehran had transmitted its response to the latest US proposal to end the war through Pakistani mediators. Trump accused former President Barack Obama of having "jettisoned Israel" and granted Tehran "a major and very powerful new lease on life," repeating his long-standing claim about $1.7 billion flown to Iran "in green cash," which he said was "taken off the plane in suitcases and satchels." The president stated that for 47 years "the Iranians have been 'tapping' us along, keeping us waiting, killing our people with their roadside bombs, destroying protests, and recently wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protestors, and laughing at our now GREAT AGAIN Country." He concluded, "They will be laughing no longer!" The post made no direct reference to the Iranian response delivered earlier today, and the White House has not commented on whether the two are linked. BNN has learned that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is returning to Jerusalem for a phone call with Trump.
