U.S. destroyers USS Truxtun and USS Mason came under a sustained Iranian attack in the Strait of Hormuz tonight, including fast-attack boats, drones, and missiles, CBS News reported. American forces returned fire, with no casualties or damage reported on the U.S. side.
U.S. Central Command said it intercepted unprovoked Iranian attacks and responded with defensive strikes. The U.S. military separately stated that no American assets were hit in the Iranian attack, contradicting Iranian claims that its forces had damaged U.S. naval vessels and forced them to withdraw.
