U.S. President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric against Tehran today, warning Iran that it had better "get smart soon" as it struggles to formulate a nuclear deal. "Iran can't get their act together. They don't know how to sign a nonnuclear deal. They better get smart soon!" Trump wrote on Truth Social, accompanying the post with a digitally rendered image of himself carrying a rifle in front of a destroyed landscape and the caption "No more Mr. Nice Guy."
The post comes as new analysis suggests the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports is rapidly approaching a critical pressure point for Tehran. Iran has an estimated 12 to 22 days until it will be forced to shut down oil wells, as the country is running out of storage space for crude amid the ongoing blockade, Bloomberg reported, citing data from the Kpler research firm. The report said Iran may be forced to cut daily output by another 1.5 million barrels by mid-May. Trump's message follows his post yesterday claiming Iran had informed Washington it was in a "state of collapse" and was asking the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
