The IDF is carrying out large-scale strikes across southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley, in what is shaping up to be the most extensive Israeli air campaign in Lebanon since the April 17 ceasefire took effect. Lebanese state media has reported strikes on Tibnin, Qounine, Yater, Majdal Selm, Shaqra, and Mansouri, with one civilian killed in the strike on Mansouri and several wounded in Tibnin and Shaqra. The latest strike on Tibnin reportedly fell behind the town's government hospital. Significant destruction was reported in Zawtar al-Sharqiya, with additional raids hitting the outskirts of Shaqra in the Bint Jbeil district and Tayr Harfa in the Tyre district.
The IDF said it has struck more than 20 Hezbollah-linked infrastructure sites, targeting weapons manufacturing and storage facilities as well as rocket launch sites. The strikes in the Beqaa Valley are the first there in roughly three weeks. An IDF-operated Hermes 450 drone has been recorded loitering above Beirut since early this morning.
The wave of strikes follows yesterday's Hezbollah explosive drone attack in Taybeh that killed Sgt. Idan Fooks, 19, and wounded six other soldiers, and earlier IDF evacuation warnings for 16 villages south of the Litani River. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asserted Israel's freedom of action against Hezbollah throughout Lebanon, and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned Hezbollah for the attacks even as Beirut continues direct talks with Israel.
