The IDF announced the death of Sgt. Idan Fooks, 19, of the 7th Armored Brigade's 77th Battalion, who was killed yesterday in southern Lebanon when a Hezbollah explosive-laden drone struck his unit. Fooks, from Petah Tikva, was posthumously promoted from corporal to sergeant. Six other soldiers were wounded in the attack, including an officer and three troops in serious condition, one moderately, and one lightly. His funeral is scheduled for Monday afternoon in Petah Tikva.
According to an IDF probe, a tank from the 77th Battalion got stuck in the southern Lebanese town of Taybeh, inside the Israeli-declared security zone, and the drone struck while soldiers were working to repair it. As an Israeli Air Force helicopter was being dispatched to evacuate the wounded, Hezbollah launched two additional explosive-laden drones at the forces. One was intercepted, and the second landed near the troops without causing further casualties.
