Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel has "established its standing as a regional power" in the wake of its campaign against Iran, in pre-recorded remarks broadcast at the Mount Herzl torch-lighting ceremony marking the transition to Israel's 78th Independence Day. "The Iranian axis of evil is fighting for its very survival," he said. "We rose up like a young lion and fought like a lion. We struck hard at the regime of terror in Iran and established Israel's standing as a regional power." Casting the past year as a "war of revival," Netanyahu said Israel had "shattered large parts of the Iranian axis."
