Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Argentine President Javier Milei on Sunday announced the launch of the "Isaac Accords," a new framework meant to expand cooperation between Israel, Argentina, and other countries in South, Central, and North America that share what the two sides described as common values, including "defending freedom, democracy, and the struggle against terrorism, antisemitism, and drug trafficking." The initiative will place special focus on increasing coordination against terrorist groups, particularly Iran's efforts to expand its network across the Western Hemisphere. US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee attended the event.
At the same ceremony, Netanyahu and Milei also announced a new direct scheduled flight route between Israel and Argentina. The move is meant to deepen economic ties, support business activity, increase trade and investment, and boost both incoming and outgoing tourism. Several agreements were signed as well, including a counter-terrorism memorandum, an agreement on artificial intelligence cooperation, and an amended aviation protocol. Milei also opened his visit with a prayer at the Western Wall, where he said, "My vision for the state is based on the values of morality and faith, on justice and on Jewish heritage," adding that "Only by respecting these laws will we achieve true freedom, both physical and spiritual."
In his remarks, Netanyahu said the initiative could grow beyond Israel and Argentina, adding, "It begins with the two of us and with the support that is always there of the United States for free societies." Drawing a comparison to earlier regional agreements, he said, "Just as we had the model of the Abraham Accords here... the same can happen vis-à-vis our common goals, our common values in Latin America." He also joked, "We had Abraham, we had Isaac, what will be the Jacob Accords?" Referring to the new air route, Netanyahu said, "We have just passed the unimaginable free navigation, direct flight between Israel and Argentina," and added that officials had managed to "compress Israeli bureaucracy into nothing."
